Students at MVHS have a rich and fascinating environment in which to learn. From the soccer team to student-led rock and roll bands, there are activities for every personality. A yearly camping trip at the start of the school year allows students and teachers to get to know each other in a fun atmosphere, and a wide range of events during the rest of the year lets the school interact with the community.

2009-2010 Student Supply List:

If your class/teacher is not listed simply make certain you have college ruled paper and pens/pencils on the first day of classes until you find out what you will need for that class.
It is recommended that each student have their own flash-drive.

Beth Tafoya: American Sign Language I, II, and Drama: Pencils or Pens and a pocket folder for hand outs.

Henri Jacobs: Biology, Chemistry, Physics need a small pack of colored pencils and a small hand held pencil sharpener.  Chem and physics need a scientific calculator (scientific notation, sin, cos, tan, etc) - not expensive- Walmart has them for about 12 dollars.  Notebooks I will order for them and they pay 99 cents when distributed

John Vierra: Geometry, Algebra, Pre-Algebra, Advanced Math and Calculus

Three ring binder - at least 1.5", 5 dividers
lined and graph paper
pencils (mechanical would be a good idea) and colored pencils
large eraser
protractor with metric and standard measurement
compass
2 function calculator (recommend TI-30)
Ruler with metric and standard measurement
Students will need three ring portfolio covers (at least 4) throughout the school year.

Barb Browning: AP World History, AP US History, Introduction to Seminar

Three ring binders (1.5 inches/2 inches- no more,no less) with front and back pockets.  They also need college rule paper, black ink pens/pencils.  AP students need book covers.

Gary Yamane: World Music, Beginning Guitar, Intermediate Guitar

Beginning guitar students need a pocket folder to hold sheet music.

JoAnne Fowler: Art Survey and Advanced Art

Art students should begin to collect reusable materials: glass bottles, bottle caps, egg cartons, wire, wood, etc.

Alexandra Sternhagen: English 9, English 11, AP Literature and Journalism

All students will need a 3 ring binder (3 inch), loose leaf paper for the binder and dividers for the binder, flash/thumb drive, highlighters, colored pencils and pens and pencils.

It would be helpful [but not required] if the 9th graders bought Macbeth, AP bought Hamlet for the same reason, and the 11th graders bought Julius Caesar so they can work these texts by marking them up.

Linda Colenda, Spanish I,II, III, IV and Latin

Spanish students need:  1) a designated, secure spot to transport home assignments to/from class - pants pocket does not count!; 2) paper - any type; 3) pencils - more than one.

Latin students need #1 & #3 above, but must also have a one-subject spiral notebook.
